On the afternoon of May 21st, Mien Trung Industry and Trade College organized a tobacco harm prevention propaganda session for 2025 to celebrate World No Tobacco Day on May 31st, with the participation of school leadership representatives, academic advisors, and a large number of students from the college.
 Overview of the 2025 tobacco harm prevention propaganda program
The program aimed to raise students’ awareness about the harmful effects of using tobacco, e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and shisha, while emphasizing the benefits of a smoke-free environment and disseminating related legal regulations.

Speaking at the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Anh – Deputy Director of the Admissions and Enterprise Relations Center, in charge of Student Care Department – emphasized: “Tobacco harm prevention propaganda is part of the school’s continuous efforts to build a healthy and civilized educational environment. We hope that each student will not only be a recipient of information but also an active propagandist in the community, contributing to spreading a positive lifestyle and responsibility for personal and social health.”

Sharing at the program, Dr. Chau Trong Phat – Specialist Doctor Level I provided extensive scientific and practical information about the serious impacts of new-generation tobacco products on users’ health and the community. Not only causing addiction and respiratory damage, but e-cigarettes also pose potential risks affecting the nervous system, cardiovascular system, and reproductive capacity – especially for adolescents who are in their developmental stage.
The doctor also emphasized citizens’ rights and obligations in tobacco harm prevention work, smokers’ obligations, and behaviors strictly prohibited by law. Specifically, Decree 117/2020/ND-CP was clearly outlined with specific penalty levels for smoking in unauthorized places or illegal tobacco advertising and trading.

After the knowledge dissemination section, students from the Electrical & Automation, Business Administration – Tourism – Fashion, and Mechanical departments took turns presenting reports, sharing perspectives and viewpoints on the current status of tobacco use among young people. Many opinions expressed concern about the spread of e-cigarettes in schools, while calling on peers to build a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle.
The interactive Q&A session between students and the presenter helped clarify questions related to recognition methods, tobacco addiction treatment, and effective prevention measures in the school environment.
The program concluded with commemorative photo activities in an enthusiastic and united atmosphere. The propaganda session not only provided practical information but also made an important contribution to forming a sense of responsibility and building a smoke-free learning environment, contributing to protecting community health and preserving a clean-living environment for future generations.
