In boundless sorrow, the people of the entire nation bid farewell to Comrade Tran Duc Luong – former Member of the Politburo, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam – a loyal communist fighter, a devoted son who dedicated his entire life to revolutionary ideals, for the prosperity of the Fatherland and the happiness of the People.

A Life of Steadfast Revolution

Comrade Tran Duc Luong was born on May 5, 1937, in Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province. Throughout his revolutionary life, he always maintained political integrity and absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the People.

Graduating from Hanoi University of Technology with a degree in geology, Comrade Tran Duc Luong once worked as a technical officer at the General Department of Geology. However, it was his burning patriotic flame that led him to the revolutionary path, becoming a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1959. From then on, his life was intertwined with the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

Throughout more than 60 years of continuous dedication, he held many important positions, from Party work at the central level to the position of head of state. In whatever position he held, he demonstrated exemplary revolutionary moral qualities, always placing national and ethnic interests above all else.

A Devoted, Intelligent, and Modest Leader

From 1997 to 2006, in his role as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Comrade Tran Duc Luong, together with the collective leadership of the Party and State, made many major decisions to promote the comprehensive renewal of the country, awakening national strength and expanding foreign relations.

During those years, the image of President Tran Duc Luong emerged as a leader close to the people, modest yet extremely principled and decisive. He paid special attention to protecting sovereignty, building national defense and security, maintaining national unity, developing education and training, and protecting the legitimate rights of the people.

Under his leadership, Vietnam gradually affirmed its position on the international stage, expanded diplomatic relations, attracted investment, and improved people’s living standards. These advances were the result of sharp political vision and the persistent dedication of a leader who lived entirely for the people and for the country.

A Model of Morality and Dedication

Not only a talented leader, but Comrade Tran Duc Luong also left a deep impression in the hearts of the people through his honest and exemplary lifestyle. Despite holding the highest position in the State, he maintained a humble, dedicated attitude and remained close to officials, soldiers, and compatriots throughout the country.

His life was a living testament to the spirit of “tireless dedication to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.” This spirit spread and provided motivation for many generations of officials and party members to follow his example.

At a time when the country entered global integration and comprehensive renewal, his thoughts, morality, and example continue to be a beacon lighting the path of sustainable development, for a prosperous people – strong nation – democracy – justice – civilization.

Deep Sorrow and Profound Gratitude

The passing of Comrade Tran Duc Luong is a great loss for our Party, State, and people. His contributions, dedication, and heart will forever be engraved in the hearts of millions of Vietnamese people.

During these days, thousands of comrades and compatriots throughout the country have come to pay their respects and bid farewell to the respected President. This sentiment is the sincere and touching recognition of the People for a beautiful life, a noble example of morality and patriotism.

Mien Trung Industry and Trade College (MITC) Respectfully Pays Tribute and Commemorates

The predecessor was the Geology Vocational High School 2, established on August 1, 1978, according to Decision No. 281-QD/TC of the General Department of Geology – where Comrade Tran Duc Luong once worked.

During its development, the school was honored to have the Comrade visit and work there. Before his passing, the school organized a delegation to visit, pay respects, and offer incense in farewell to the Comrade – who devoted his entire life to the Fatherland and the People.
