In the morning of April 23, MITC officially operated The second Rice ATM at the school to freely distribute rice for the poor, jobless people by COVID-19 and vulnerable citizens in Tuy Hoa city, giving some immediate support to local people during the pandemic.
The first rice ATM was installed by a group of lecturers of the Faculty of Mechanical and The Faculty of Electrical – Automation as this second rice ATM. The first rice ATM was built in DongXuan district – a rural mountainous area of Phu Yen province – as one part of the rice ATM project sponsored by Thai Ha Books Joint-stock company. Rice ATM No. 2 continues to have upgrades and improvements compared with the first machine. The second machine is improved in both the mechanical part and the control system to swift hand-out the rice so that it facilitates the supply rice project precisely and promptly.
Dr. Tran Kim Quyen, Rector of the school said: “The rice aid is donated from the priceless generosity of individuals, government and business organizations. This action comes from a desire to giving a hand to help the poor in difficult times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. ”
With the motto “If you need it, come and get it, if you are okay then give it to others, if you are more than enough then contribute for others”, all those negatively affected by COVID-19 can come to MITC and receive a minimum of 3 kg of rice/person, 1 time/day.
The rice distribution on the first day took place in ensuring the prevention of epidemic with enthusiastic guidance and support from MITC’s staff and students. Elderly and people with disabilities are given priority in arranging separate placement to show the school’s deep concern in each recipient. On the morning of April 23, MITC handed out more than 500 orders, equivalent to 1.5 tons of rice donation, the distribution occurred continuously in the next days.
This is one of many significant social activities of MITC during the COVID-19 pandemic which is a collaboration with the local people to overcome the current difficult period, and contributing to beautifying the common image of the education’s staff.
