This is well-deserved recognition for MITC’s persistent and pioneering journey in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation movements in the Central Highlands region, especially in Phu Yen province. Entrepreneurship needs to be “lightning fast, bold, and unlimited.”
Mr. Tran Kim Quyen – Principal of the School – was honored as 1 of 15 individual leaders from colleges across the country to receive a certificate of merit from the Minister of Education and Training for outstanding achievements in supporting student entrepreneurship during the 2017-2025 period.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the strategic role of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country’s development: “A startup nation cannot lack an entrepreneurial spirit from each individual, especially the youth.” He requested that entrepreneurial activities be promoted with a spirit that is lightning fast, bold, and unlimited, while bringing substantive benefits to learners.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the strategic role of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country’s development.
The Prime Minister also suggested that the Ministry of Education and Training collaborate with other ministries and sectors to develop student entrepreneurship support centers, creative spaces, and incubators; and to incorporate entrepreneurship into the main curriculum so that students can live in a true entrepreneurial environment. Since 2017, the Government has issued Project 1665 to support student entrepreneurship until 2025. To date, more than 42,000 startup projects have been implemented in the education system, with thousands of colleges and high school students participating.
MITC – A Nucleus of Innovative Entrepreneurship in Central Vietnam – Central Highlands
In Phu Yen, MITC is one of the first schools to lead in introducing entrepreneurship as part of the main curriculum, while creating an environment for practice, experience, and entrepreneurship right within the school.
As early as 2016, the school established the MITC entrepreneurship incubator, which developed into the Business Incubation and Innovation Center by 2018. This center has played a core role in spreading the entrepreneurial spirit to students and the local entrepreneurial community.
In April 2022, MITC signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Southern National Entrepreneurship Support Advisory Council and the Business Forum Magazine (VCCI) – officially joining the national innovation startup ecosystem network, opening opportunities to connect investment resources and develop startup businesses locally.
In 2018, MITC’s Business Incubation and Innovation Center was established.
The center currently has a team of 20 senior advisors, 50 experts, and 20 accompanying entrepreneurs, and has organized many practical activities: startup selection workshops, brand building and communication strategy, investment connections, and product promotion. MITC also provides communication support for 40 startups through digital media platforms and the press. Notably, at the 2021 National Startup Kite competition, MITC had 2 projects reach the finals out of more than 200 participating projects. The school also successfully organized the Central Highlands Entrepreneurship and Innovation Day, contributing to promoting exchange and connecting young startup groups.
In particular, to continue promoting achievements and expanding the ecosystem supporting student entrepreneurship, on October 16, 2023, MITC officially established the Mentoring Club – a model connecting advisors and learners with practical experience, bringing together 11 mentors who are lecturers and experts from MITC along with 19 experts who are business directors from within and outside the province. The club has accompanied 20 mentees who are students, implemented training and support for 11 entrepreneurship programs inside and outside the province, organized 5 personal development skills training programs, and contributed more than 200 community service hours: from mentoring, project guidance, organizing to judging entrepreneurship competitions. This is an effective model, making practical contributions to the goal of spreading entrepreneurship within schools and the community.
According to the Prime Minister’s directive, for the entrepreneurial ecosystem to develop sustainably, there needs to be a close connection between the “Three Houses”: Government – School – Business, working together in training, financial support, and inspiring entrepreneurship for young people.
MITC recognizes that this is not only an honor but also a great responsibility. The school is committed to continuing to expand its network of connections, strengthen advisory capabilities, invest in innovative spaces, promote incubation activities and product commercialization, toward forming strong young businesses from the school bench.
