On the afternoon of December 13th, 2017, the delegation of Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) – China, led by Prof. Tian Jun, Vice Chairman of University Administration Committee (KUST) visited and worked with Tuy Hoa Industrial College (TIC).
Vice Rector Nguyen Van Duc welcomed KUST delegation and proposed
cooperation opportunities between parties.
KUST delegation was made up of 6 representatives, including Dean of Faculty of Management and Economics, Vice Dean of Faculty of Transportation Engineering, Vice Dean of School of International Education and teachers of School of International Education. For Tuy Hoa Industrial College, Vice Rector Nguyen Van Duc, together with the Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, especially lecturers graduated from KUST.
Doan Thi Hong Nguyen, Director of International Cooperation and Training Center presented a brief report on cooperation between the two institutes in the period 2008-2017.
Kunming University of Science and Technology is a polytechnic university with a history of nearly 100 years (established in 1952), the largest scale in Yunnan province with a total area of over 300 hectares. The school offers a full range of education and training majors including: Science, Engineering, Technology, Management, Economics, Literature, Law, Education and Medicine, etc, with over 300 majors of undergraduate, master, doctoral and postdoctoral programs. KUST has a strong qualified teaching and research staff of more than 3,900 in which 1,176 professors and associate professors, and 23 academics of Institute of Science and Engineering of China. The total number of current students is over 81,000. As of 2017, KUST was ranked 87/2400 universities in China.

KUST and TIC started the cooperation in 2008. Since then, the two institutes have been continuously developing their relationship and exchanges through visits and meetings in the years 2009, 2011 and 2013. Each institute has also authorized its students to visit, exchange cultures and languages between the two parties in the years 2011 and 2013. The good relationship will also be tightened after the signing ceremony.
After nearly 3 hours of discussion on the basis of several similar fields of training, the two parties have agreed on the cooperation program of three main areas in the coming time:
– Cooperation in doing scientific research of relevant fields;
– Academic exchanges of teachers, lecturers and students, international seminars;
– Short-term exchange programs for students.
Both institutes’ leaders believe that together with the positive efforts of each party, the cooperative relationship between the two institutes in the future will develop more and more to advance comprehensively cooperation and tighten Vietnam-China friendship.
Also at the signing ceremony, the deans and heads of the TIC Faculties and Departments who had been successfully completed PhD programs at KUST expressed their sincere thanks to the professors and lecturers of KUST for their assistance. Besides, they suggested some specific ideas and possibilities of cooperation between two parties. The leaders of KUST perceived all the proposals and agreed to study more long-term cooperation models in appropriate fields between the two institutes.
