Not choosing to study at a university, today many students have a tendency to choose to work as a worker to fulfill the dream of start-up.
At Nguyen Van Linh High School (Dong Hoa Town), Dr. Tran Kim Quyen, the Rector of Mientrung Industry and Trade College (MITC) and the Provincial Internal Affairs Committee have just awarded a full scholarship to Luong Cong Tru, student of class 12C11 of this school with a total scholarship of 35 million VND in 3 years of apprenticeship at MITC. In addition, the MITC Trade Union also mobilized 5 million VND from the staff of the school to support him with the aim of encouraging the spirit of fondness for learning, as well as help him to successfully complete the last semester at high school before studying at MITC.
Luong Cong Tru lives in difficult circumstances. The stroke left his father paralysed. His mother has heart disease. The house has 3 brothers. Luong Cong Chuan is the eldest brother who has just graduated from MITC’s Mechanical Engineering and has got a job; Luong Thi Ngoc Tu, his younger sister, is in grade 8. Luong Cong Tru said: “After seeing my brother learn an apprenticeship and find a job right after graduation, I determined that I will choose the same way as what my brother did. I also choose to be a mechanic. I am very grateful to be supported by MITC in the process of studying in the future”.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Diem, the Principal of Nguyen Van Linh High School, said: “Recently, the recruitment of employees has tended to change. The employers mainly based on the ability and forte of labours rather than their qualifications. In fact, the lack of a workforce with knowledge, skills and well-trained professional attitudes has made it easier for apprentices to find jobs.”
“Before many turns in life, with lots of opportunities, but not all students know that. Even if there are some teachers who do not follow the career guidance for students, they are not sure to know everything to advise their students. Therefore, the school always closely follows the senior students to have appropriate career counseling, thereby helping them to have the right direction for the future.”, Mr. Diem emphasized.
With good ability in studying, Luong Cong Tru can easily be admitted to universities in the admissions season in 2021, but he chose to study an apprenticeship with a simple reason to start his career early. And the timely support and encouragement by a full scholarship of MITC is considered as a stepping stone to help him to be firm on the path of establishing a career.
Don’t focus too much on qualifications when recuiting
Instead of going to university by any way, now many students at secondary schools and high schools have chosen apprenticeships as a new trend. The first change that can be seen is a marked increase in the proportion of students who enrolled in apprenticeships, especially in the intermediate level. In 2020, the schools in the vocational education system in the province have admitted enough targets, even some careers exceed the set targets.
The next change is that students in vocational schools have very high employment opportunities with an income of 6-10 million VND per month. Besides, the employers also give priority to the one with good professional skills, and no longer focus on qualifications. Most businesses are willing to choose vocational trainees who only graduated from sencondary school but have professional skills. They even pay high salaries and give promotion opportunities for good candidates who have a lot of effort in their work.
Dr. Tran Kim Quyen said that some professions that students choose to learn a lot are Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Electrical refrigeration, Food processing, Hotels and restaurants, etc. And Automotive Technology is the profession that is selected the most, with the number of registered candidates exceeding the target.
In 2021, which profession being good for the future with stable income is an issue that many parents and students are very concerned about. According to consultants, in the next 5 years, the professions involved in engineering, technology, trade and services, tourism will continue being predicted to have an open future and bring the most attractive income due to the fact that the supply does not meet the demand. This is an opportunity to promote vocational education to develop.
“If students want to know which career fields are attracting a lot of labours, they can go to the recruitment websites or read the recruitment newspaper to know what human resources are needed in society, and see what qualities and skills the job requires as well as the ability to meet the requirements of oneself. Because the key is that after graduation, learners who acquire vocational skills will not worry about unemployment.”Dr. Tran Kim Quyen, the Rector of Mientrung Industry and Trade College. |
