On the morning of April 17th, in room 101 B1, the MienTrung Industry and Trade College hosted a program to commemorate the 2nd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2023. The event revolved around the theme “Books – Awareness – Innovation – Creativity” and aimed to honor Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day on April 21st, while fostering a reading culture among the students and staff of MITC.

The program witnessed the presence of esteemed individuals, including Dr. Tran Kim Quyen, Chairman of the School Council, and Rector. Vice heads of various units, managers as well as numerous staff members and students of the school, also attended the event.
The gathering served as a platform to celebrate the profound impact of books and to instill a passion for reading among the MITC community. It emphasized the crucial role of books in cultivating awareness, stimulating innovation, and nurturing creativity.

Mr. Huynh Manh Nhan, Head of Quality Management and Scientific Research Department, began the program by highlighting the significance of April 21st as Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. He emphasized the historical importance of this date, as it marks the release of Vietnam’s first book, “Duong Khach Menh,” printed by Vietnamese printers in the Vietnamese language. His remarks underscored the importance of this day in promoting reading culture and celebrating Vietnamese literary achievements.

Dr. Tran Kim Quyen, Rector, emphasized the significance of reading and cultivating a reading culture in the 4.0 era. She stressed the importance of continuous learning and self-development, particularly in the face of advancements in technologies like Artificial Intelligence. The school has adapted its training curriculum to prioritize liberal education, practical experiences, and innovation to meet the demands of the changing times.

During the event, Dr. Tran Kim Quyen made a generous contribution to the school library by donating a collection of books. He expressed his aspiration for reading to become not just a mere movement but a shared culture within the entire school community. The book donation initiative for the library will continue until April 29th, and individuals or groups who wish to contribute can do so by directly delivering their donated books to the library at either Campus 1 or Campus 2 of the school. Dr. Tran Kim Quyen’s donation exemplifies his commitment to fostering a reading culture and providing valuable resources for the school’s students and staff.

At the program’s conclusion, all staff and students enjoyed a reading tour in the book exhibition room and school library’s reading room. Looking ahead, the MienTrung Industry and Trade College plans to launch a book review program titled “Books – Read to renew thinking” for students and staff of MITC. Participants will have the chance to win two valuable prizes of 1 million VND each for their outstanding book reviews. This program aims to foster critical thinking and a love for reading among the school community.
