As the only female student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Course 41st, Mien Trung Industry and Trade College, Nguyen Thi Thinh is considered as a precious rose, refreshing and adorning the Electrical Engineering – Automation field, the major having prejudice against women.

Contrary to the thoughts of most people: girls who study engineering are often too manly, Nguyen Thi Thinh is very feminine like many other girls.
When asked the reason why she chose to follow this major, Thinh said: simply because I feel this is a practical major with many very useful applications in life around us, most available objects are using electricity. Especially, in this Industry 4.0, the popularity of objects using electricity and automation technology is growing fast.
– So girls who study this field have any difficulties or advantages?
Thinh shared: First of all, The biggest difficulty to overcome is prejudice of this fielf, making decisions to choose the field. At first, my family banned me from choosing the field, however when they saw my determination to pursue my dream, they gradually changed from objecting to supporting me. The second difficulty was that in the first days of school, everything was unfamiliar, and I am the class only girl, so it was a bit sad and lonely.
However, when those first days were over, everything looks pretty good. Friends, teachers in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering – Automation, and the teachers in the school as well are all helpful, they have been created the best conditions for me. Especially, when I go on internships, I was treated well by my colleagues, mostly men, and I was luckily assigned the right jobs for a girl, not heavy or dangerous.
It is known that during the last internship before graduation, this girl in the electricity industry made a very good impression with Colgate Vietnam Company, a famous toothpaste brand – headquartered in Cat Lai town, Binh Duong province and they offered to accept her right after she graduates from College.
Currently, Nguyen Thi Thinh and her friends are completing a project on smart home model, in which lights, doors, gas alarms, burglar alarms are connected to the homeowner via phone or tablet. After completing the project and graduating from college, she will work at Colgate company with an expected salary of about 8 to 10 million VND per month, a dream income of many people in her hometown. However, the most important thing is to work in a professional environment, with high promotion opportunities and to be cared for by many people.
From the school year of 2020, in order to support such examples as Nguyen Thi Thinh, Mien Trung Industry and Trade College has issued a policy of 50% reduction of tuition fees for all female students studying engineering at the College
Thank you Nguyen Thi Thinh- beautiful rose of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Mien Trung Industry and Trade College, the factor that changed our perception of women studying automation in particular and engineering in general. She is also the one who proves that women can do the jobs that men do, and sometimes they can beat them.
