When mentioning lecturer Hoang Thi Cam Tu of the Business Administration department at Mien Trung Industry and Trade College, people immediately think of a dedicated teacher who always burns with passion for the career of “cultivating people.” With over 13 years of teaching experience, she is not only a guide leading student into the world of knowledge but also a powerful source of inspiration, igniting the desire to learn and pursue dreams for many generations of students.
The Path to Teaching
Originally from the city of thousand flowers Da Lat, where pine trees whisper and mist covers the landscape, Ms. Hoang Thi Cam Tu chose Tuy Hoa, the gentle coastal city of Phu Yen, as her home after marriage. It was here in 2011 that she began her journey as a lecturer in the Economics Department (now the Department of Business Administration – Tourism – Fashion) at Mien Trung Industry and Trade College (formerly Tuy Hoa Industrial College). This opportunity not only opened a new chapter in her life but also laid the foundation for her continuous contributions to education and the development of many generations of students.

Teaching Achievements and Entrepreneurship Training
In her professional work, she won third prize in the college-level Teaching Competition for the 2019-2020 academic year and first prize in the department-level Teaching Competition for 2021-2022. As one of the pioneering teachers, she has contributed to innovating teaching methods and participated in developing E-learning lectures to improve student learning quality. Beyond teaching, Ms. Tu actively guides students in entrepreneurship competitions. Under her guidance, student groups have achieved notable success: Second prize at the college-level Startup Ideas Competition in 2015, Encouragement prize at the college level in 2019, and Third prize at the college-level Start-up Competition in 2023, while also winning First prize at the department level.
Additionally, she has served as a judge at department and college-level startup competitions for many years, while directly training youth in innovative entrepreneurship in Phu Yen and Central Vietnam provinces. Notably, Ms. Tu has collaborated with organizations like the Vietnam Design Thinking Community and MITC Business Incubation and Innovation Center, contributing to projects applying Design Thinking in teaching innovation and developing sustainable agricultural tourism alliances between Phu Yen and Lam Dong. She also supports Social Impact Businesses (SIBs) through collaboration projects with UNDP and the FIIS Innovation Center at Foreign Trade University Hanoi.
Pioneering in Design Thinking Application
With the motto “The value of life is not what you have, but what you bring to others,” Ms. Tu currently supports community activities as an Executive Board member of the Vietnam Design Thinking Community, founding member of the Phu Yen Local Talent Network, and Deputy Head of Design Thinking at MITC. Together with members at MITC and in Phu Yen, she aims to contribute to and support community projects in Phu Yen through design thinking application and play a small part in promoting Phu Yen’s economic development.
Ms Hoang Thi Cam Tu has always been a supportive companion to MITC students.
Ms. Tu shares: “Design thinking brings many values and can be applied to life, work, especially in teaching because I believe if I cannot empathize with my students, I cannot apply the right teaching methods to achieve the best results.”
Therefore, Ms. Tu always applies the 5 steps of Design thinking: Empathy, Problem Definition, Solution Ideation, Idea Visualization, and Testing. This helps students grasp lessons more easily and develop greater love for their field of study and future profession.
Mission to Inspire Young Generations
Ms. Hoang Thi Cam Tu is always a companion to MITC students. Beyond just imparting knowledge, she helps students recognize the importance of creativity and passion. With a student-centered teaching approach, she always encourages them to express their personality and develop presentation and critical thinking skills, while guiding them to participate in real projects to gain experience.
According to students, Ms. Tu is not just an excellent lecturer but also a friend to students. She is always ready to listen and support students in overcoming difficulties in their studies and life. With colleagues, she wholeheartedly shares experiences and spreads a positive spirit.
Her dedication to teaching and enthusiastic spirit in various activities have helped Ms. Hoang Thi Cam Tu leave a deep impression on students while contributing to enriching the noble values of the teaching profession.
