Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam, Mien Trung Industry and Trade College (MITC) organized a “Back to Roots” program, igniting national pride and nurturing life ideals for the younger generation.
“One Continuous Strip of Mountains and Rivers – An Enduring Nation”
Fifty years ago, in the historic spring of 1975, the entire Vietnamese nation burst with endless joy. The Spring Victory – culminating in the triumphant Ho Chi Minh Campaign – ended 21 years of arduous resistance, terminated the neo-colonial regime, and reunified the country.
The Ho Chi Minh Campaign, which took place from April 26 to April 30, 1975, was the final military campaign in the Vietnam War. At 11:30 AM on April 30, 1975, Liberation Army tanks broke through the gates of Independence Palace, marking the complete collapse of the Saigon government and ending the war.
It was not just a military victory, but a triumph of the people’s will, of indomitable spirit, of belief in independence – freedom – happiness. It was the result of blood, tears, and sacrifices of millions of Vietnamese – from soldiers on the frontlines to mothers who silently sent their children to war, from civilians in the rear who diligently contributed every grain of rice and drop of blood to the front, to classes held in shelters and textbooks written by oil lamps during times of bombing.
Today, Mien Trung Industry and Trade College (MITC), in the sacred atmosphere of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and national reunification, expresses deep gratitude to the heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick veterans, veterans, and those who have contributed to the country. The sacrifices of the previous generation are the foundation for the development, integration, and aspirations of today’s generation. Every staff member, lecturer, and student at MITC carries in their heart the flame of patriotism, responsibility, and national pride. MITC believes that peace is not simply a moment to celebrate and recount, but also a responsibility to maintain and develop for today’s youth.
The 2025 “Back to Roots” Program of Mien Trung Industry and Trade College
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and national reunification, Mien Trung Industry and Trade College organized a “Back to Roots” program – a journey back to history, back to the glorious origins of the nation. The program took students who achieved the title of “Excellent Students of the 2024-2025 Academic Year” to three historical sites in Phu Yen province, each symbolizing sacred patriotism, indomitable fighting spirit, and the aspiration for independence:
The memorial to Phu Yen’s pioneer – Luong Van Chanh Temple
As a notable figure who pioneered the development of Phu Yen region, Luong Van Chanh Temple is not only a place of worship but also an important cultural-historical symbol, expressing the nation’s tradition of “remembering the source when drinking water.”
A place commemorating the heroic sacrifices of revolutionary soldiers in Tuy Hoa during the resistance against America. Every inscription, every name echoes a time of fire and blood, urging us to live and contribute more worthily.
Vung Ro No-Number Ship Historical Site: Associated with the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea, this site marks the journeys of ships transporting weapons to support the southern battlefield, despite the enemy’s severe blockade. A brilliant symbol of bravery and ingenious tactics.
The journey back to roots is an opportunity for each student of MITC to ignite the flame of pride, strengthen life ideals, and follow the traditions of their forefathers, continuing to write glorious pages of history through tireless learning, labor, and dedication for a developed and powerful Vietnam.
